Hengqin International Financial Center, Aedas

The spirally rising volume is 339m high and is located in Zhuhai’s Hengqin Island, a future financial district connecting Hong Kong, Macao, and other major cities in the Greater Bay Area.

SHAPE – In my opinion the most important key that can be use to describe this building is Shape, this because this classic approach to CAD modeling is to manipulate primitive geometries, rotational. We can see this in the elegant curves and in the powerful twists of the tower.

DISCRETIZE – I think that the second possible key to analyze this project is Discretize, due to the multiplicity of elements repeated on its surface. On the basement of it, we can easily identify triangular modulus; while int he higher part we can notice the use of rectangular forms. These two elements form the texture that generates the perception of the form.

WIREFRAME – This leads us to think that the last possible key is Wireframe, that aims to develop the perceptual framework of a shape. The structure, that holds the building with all its envelope, is made of a very complex arranging of beams and columns, as we can see in this image of the internal part.
